Backflip 180 - Gymnastics
In this lesson you will learn how to do a back flip with a 180 degree twist. Jump off like if you were doing a back flip, twist 180 degrees and land like from a front flip. Before you start practicing the back flip half twist, you should be able to do normal front and back flips. Find more gymnastic flips at gymnastics main.
Description: Backflip 180 - Gymnastics
- Jump off from both legs and throw up your arms to vertical level, before you initiate the rotation. The most common mistake is trying to initiate the rotation too early. (you have go gain height first) There is no difference between the jump-off for a back flip tuck and the jump-off of a back flip half twist.
- When you have gained enough height, pull your hands sideways down and grab your knees. (instead you can also pull your arms down to the left side of your torso)
- Twist 180 degrees counter clockwise and then lift your arms again.
- Land on the balls of your feet, keep your abs contracted slightly (to protect your back) and bring your arms back to vertical level. Land like from a front flip.

- The easiest way to learn the back flip half twist is to jump from a 1 meter springboard into water.
- Simulate the round-off with a trampoline.
- When you can do the back flip half twist from
a trampoline and your round-off - back flip is very high, you can try
it with a round-off on a tumbling track.
(use mats to protect the landing area) - When you jump off like for a front flip and land like from a back flip, that's called barani.
