Back Handspring Stepout
This technique is basically
like a normal back handspring, only that you spread your
legs after
jumping off and land on one leg.
The back handspring with spreaded legs is similar to the back walkover.
( b-walkovers are usually learned by girls before they learn the normal
back handspring -
boys usually don't learn the b-walkover )

Technical description: Back Handspring Stepout
- Jump off from both legs like if you were doing a normal back handspring.
- After both legs are off the ground, start splitting you legs without bending the knees.
If you do cartwheels from the left leg, spread up the right leg.
If you do cartwheels from the right leg, spread up the left leg.
- Spread you legs as far as possible.
Left and right leg should be bend forward and backward to the same degree.
- Land on one leg first. Hands up.
Trainer advice: Back Handspring Stepout - Gymnastics
- Start trying back handsprings where you land on one leg a little bit earlier.
- Mare sure you don't try to split your legs too early.
( you might jump off sideways and hurt your wrists )
- Also try to land in the frontsplits.
- Do one back handspring with spreaded legs, land on your right leg first,
turn to your left and to a cartwheel or a round-off followed by another back handspring.
