Double Back Flip - Gymnastics
In this lesson you will learn how to do a gymnastic double back flip. You should be able do all the basic flips before you try this one. I recommend you jump into water first and then try it on a trampoline. Don't try the double back flip without the supervision of an experienced coach. Find more gymnastics skills at gymnastics main.
Description: Double Back Flip - Gymnastics
- To learn the double back flip, build up mats and mini-tramp like shown in the illustration.
- Go into a handstand and bounce off a couple of times. This simulates a good round-off.
- Then do a back flip on top of the mats and keep going with a back roll. The mats have to be super soft for this.
- Get this motion smoother and smoother. You will see results very soon.
Trainer advice: Double Back Flip - Gymnastics
- The mini-tramp variation shown above is one of the best ways to learn the double back flip. Also jump from a 1m springboard into water.
- A more professional method of learning this is jumping from a tumbling track into a gymnastics pit (foam rubber cubes).
- Warm up and stretch sufficient before you work on difficult flips like this one.
