Hicho No Kamae - Ninjutsu

In this lesson you will learn how to do a hicho.
The hicho no kamae ( lit: flying bird position ) is a defensive posture and is used to defend against attacks below hip height. This stance is not held very long. Counter attack before your opponent finishes his technique and put your front foot back down.

Technical description: Hicho No Kamae - Ninjutsu

  • Bend your back leg just as much as you bend it when you do an ichimonji no kamae.
  • Lift the knee of the front leg and put the foot on the calf of your standing leg.
  • Front hand at chest height. ( open hand )
  • The back hand makes a fist and is very close to the elbow of the lead arm.
  • Keep your chin low and look straight forward.

 

 

Trainer advice: Hicho No Kamae - Ninjutsu

  • Practice both, left and right hicho. ( start from ichimonji no kamae)
  • Practice the hicho no kamae in front of a mirror.
  • Hicho application from an ichimonji no kamae
    • As your opponent attacks your, pull back the front leg and put the foot on calf of your standing leg.
      Keep the standing leg bent. ( don't stand up at the same time )
    • Defend or avoid the attack.
    • Caunterattack as you put your front foot back down.
