Rope Skipping

In this section you will find information about rope skipping and instructions for a couple of skipping techniques. A lot of people think that rope skipping is only for kids. But in fact, it's a great exercise for everbody and you can skip the rope to build up coordination, endurance, reactive strength, burn fat, etc. The good thing is, you can skip anywhere. All you need is a rope and 2 square meters of space. Rope skipping is also a very good warm-up and some people just jump for fun. BTW, there are also rope skipping clubs and competitions.

Advice

  • Always jump with shoes.
  • Always keep your hands close to your body.
  • Heavy ropes are better than light ropes. Some techniques (for example double or triple jump) are much harder with a light rope. I recommend leather, wire (with plastic cover) or pure plastic ropes.
  • I usually work out every morning (5 to 10km run + stretching) but when it rains, I definitely prefer rope skipping.
