Lying Waist Stretch

  • This is the left side of the lying waist stretch. To stretch the right side, just do the whole thing the other way around.
  • Lie down on the floor and spread your arms to the left and the right. Extend both legs.
  • Then lift your left leg over your right leg, and push the right leg forward under the left leg. This will turn your hips counter clockwise (almost 180 degrees) and stretch your waist. Keep your upper body flat on the floor.
  • Hold this position for approximately 30 seconds and then stretch the other side.


  • Do this stretch after abdominal exercises or after wushu butterfly kicks.
