Technical description: Wushu Stretchkick Stretch

  • Stand on one leg and place the other leg on something over hip height.
Both knees have to be extended and the toes of the foot on which you are standing have to point straight forward. ( 90 degrees to the wall )
  • The hips have to be parallel o the wall. If you extend your hips, the foot of your stretched legs will always be too high.
Remember that the goal of this stretch is to touch you head with the toes. ( without bending the knees )
  • Grab the sole of your shoe with both hands and pull the toes down towards your face.
If you can see the sole of your shoe or you can touch your forehead with your toes, that's very good.
If you can touch your chin, that's even better.
Keep in mind that the whole stretch is useless if you bend your knees.

Trainer advice: Wushu Stretchkick Stretch

  • Many beginners think that they cannot do this stretch, because their legs are too long.
Nobodys legs are too long for this stretch and everybody can reach his forehead.
For some people it might be difficult do strech down to the chin, but everybody can stretch to his forehead. The main reason why some people can't do it is, that they always extend their hips.
It is very important that you keep the hip of your stretched leg as low as possible.
You also won't be able to touch your forehead if you arch forward towards your leg.
Your back has to stay perfect straight or even make a hollow back.
Don't aim for your leg !!! Try to look over the sole of your foot to your heel !!!
