Capoeira Aerial Combination

How to do two capoeira aerials in a row. Before you try this, your normal aerial should be pretty good. You should be able to go back to the ginga smoothly after the first jump. For more information on how to do an aerial in capoeira, check out this video. Click here to learn more about capoeira.

Execution

  • Start from the ginga and step to the side. Do an aerial and keep looking at your opponent.
  • Land on one leg, keep moving into the same direction and then do another aerial from the same leg.
  • At the beginning it's ok if you put your hands down in the second aerial.

Advice

  • Training method: Do the first aerial on flat ground and the second on from a springboard, a bump or into a sandpit. At the beginning you can also walk 2 steps between the aerials.
  • Doing two wushu aerials in a row is harder than doing two capoeira cartwheels in a row. In wushu you have to kick both legs straight up. In capoeira you should be able to kick your opponent in mid-air, which makes it ok if your aerial is slightly slanted.
  • Being able to do the double-aerial both ways (from the left and the right leg) can be very useful. Practicing the double aerial with significantly improve your normal aerial.
  • You can also start with a left aerial, then hop and go back to where you came from with a right aerial.
  • Additional exercise: Tuck and grab your shins in the second aerial.
