This video shows how to do a capoeira balanca hop. In capoeira you always start from the ginga and then throw kicks, handstrikes or headbutts. The problem with the ginga is that it always goes from left to right, which makes it very easy for your opponent to adjust his timing and aim for you. And that's where the balanca comes to play. You basically add something or stop your ginga in order to throw off your opponent's timing. In the first balanca (actually calavo) video you can see how you can throw off your oppenent's timing, by stopping your ginga with a tuck (side bend). In this video will see how add an additional step (balanca hop). For more capoeira videos, click here.
When both legs are aligned and just before you are supposed to step back to the middle with your back leg, make a hop, switch legs and keep going to side your opponent doesn't expect you to go.
Make sure you synchronize your arm movement.
Don't jump too up to high (just switch legs).
