Capoeira - Invertebrada
An Invertebrada is a capoeira move similar to the gymnastic front walkover combined with a back walkover where you close your legs in the middle. You start with a the front walkover, and then go back and close your legs in front of your head. For more

Execution
- Plant both hands on the floor so that your fingers point towards each-other.
- Then kick one leg up and let the other leg follow. Most people kick up the right leg first. Kick your legs up and forward towards your opponent. Make sure you don't bend your elbows too much.
- Land on one leg first and then the other leg.
- Then go back the same way and close your legs in front of your face.
- Try to look back to your opponent shortly before you plant your legs. If your opponent is coming closer, you can push yourself away. If your opponent is moving away, you can push forward or even do a invertebrada kip. But that's a different lesson.
Advice
- At the beginning you should only practice the front walkover.
- Warm up and stretch your shoulders and your back before you try this.
- Before you try to go back the first time, get used to walking around in a bridge position.
- You can practice how to go back with a training partner. The front walkover is a lot easier than the back walkover.
- To practice the capoeira back walkover, you can start from a bridge with your feet on a pile of mats.
