Capoeira Kip Up + Kip Up Twist
This video shows how to do a capoeira kip up and a kip up twist. The kip up twist shown in this video is slightly less than 180°, but if your normal kip is very good and high enough, you can try a full twist. Don't try the kip up twist if you don't know how to do a normal kip up. In Portuguese this move is called "Kip Com Giro". Find more detailed

Execution
- Again, don't try this if you don't know how to do a normal capoeira kip.
- Kick you legs up and extend your body. Make sure you extend your body up at the beginning, so that you gain enough height. Keep your abdominals tight and don't initiate the twist too early.
- As a rule of thumb, initiate the twist when your hands leave the ground. Twist late and fast. You should not be able to see that there is going to be a twist until your hands leave the ground.
Advice
- Don't try to twist too early.
- Learn the kip up without throwing your hands forward before you try the kip up twist. Align your arms with your upper body and work on the height of your kip up.
- Start from the ginga and go back to the ginga after you land on both legs.
- In capoeira, you should always look at your opponent. That's why a kip up full twist doesn't really make sense. But it's a nice move - just for fun :)
