This video shows how to do a "Resistencia", which is a capoeira escape where you bend your knees and lower your hips and your upper body. This escape technique is used to tuck under medium and high attacks. For more capoeira techniques, click here, and don't forget to check out capoeira main.
Execution
Start from the ginga and step to a position where your feet are parallel and your toes point towards your opponent. You can also adjust the position of the second foot as you bend down. Your feet should be at least one shoulder width apart. The closer your feet are together, the easier it is for your opponent to unbalance you.
Then bend your knees like if you were going to do a squat and go onto the balls of your feet. Since this is used to tuck under an attack, you should also bend back. You can push your knees forward a little at this point.
Plant one hand on the floor and keep the other hand in front of your head.
Make sure you keep your eyes on the other player. A lot of people make the mistake to look down to the floor. In capoeira it is very important that you ALWAYS look at your opponent.
How low you lean down, depends on the height of your opponent's attack. In case your opponent throws a medium or low kick, you should be able to lean down so that your hips and your back are only one inch from the floor.
In order to stand back up, push your knees and your entire weight forward. Moving both arms forward can help too.
Then go back to the ginga.
Advice
The lower you go, the harder it is to stand back up. Practice low resistencias.
Most people support themselves with the right hand and use the left hand as a protection. If you have gained real control of this escape technique, you would be able to use the other (left) hand without thinking, if your current arm/ginga position requires it.
