Capoeira - Round-Off Auersbach - Uphill
This video shows an uphill
Round-Off followed by an Auersbach. An auersbach is a back flip where you move forward. You can do this by landing your round-off very flat, or by jumping onto a bump or running uphill like shown here. The auersbach is not really a
capoeira technique, but since I taped this video with the capoeira guys, I published it in here. Find more capoeira videos here.
Execution
- Do a round-off and land kinda flat.
- Bounce off the balls of your feet and and swing your hands up like if you were doing a normal back flip. Look forward for a moment and don't initiate the flip too early. Also make sure you don't relax your core (abdominals).
- Then grab your shins and tuck.
- Land on both legs at the same time and raise your arms.
Advice
- Make sure you warm up and stretch before you try this. Especially you ankles have to be warmed up.
- Don't try this if you are recovering from an ankle injury or if your achilles tendon feels kinda stiff or sore.
- Practice the auersbach into water (without round-off) before you jump on hard ground.
- I recommend you do a normal round-off back flip at the beginning, and then just try to land closer to your take off point.
- Going uphill requires more strength, but technically it makes the auersbach easier.
