Taikyoko Sono Ichi - Karate Kata

This video shows the karate kata "Taikyoko Sono Ichi", which is one of the first katas you should learn. Execution

• Taikyoku katas are seen in several types of karate. "Taikyoku" means "First Course" or "Basic Ultimate". Gichin Funakoshi developed these katas as a way to simplify the principles of the already simplified Pinan/Heian katas.
• In the taikyoku sono ichi, a gedan barai (block) is executed after each turn.
• Every punch is seiken oi tsuki chudan.
• The "Taikyoko Sono Ichi Kata" and the shotokan karate kata "Taikyoku Shodan" are exactly the same.

Advice

• This is one of the first katas you should learn.
• Slide on the balls of your feet (without standing up).
• If possible, video tape yourself.
