Sanda Front Hand Punch while Moving Forward

This video shows how to do a sanda (chin. kickboxing) front hand punche while moving forward. Before you start punching while moving, you should work on your punches from the sanda fighting stance (in front of a mirror and then with a training partner with punching pads). Then learn how to move forward and back and finally combine your punches with footwork. Click here for more sanda videos and don't forget to check out the animated sanda section.

Execution

  • For information on how to do a straight front hand punch in sanda, check out the basic front hand punch instruction.
  • Also check out the instruction on how to move forward in sanda and then combine the two techniques.
  • Basically punch shortly before the back leg starts moving.
  • Make sure you keep your back hand close to your face and don't stand up or jump as you punch.
  • Exhale as you punch.

Advice

  • Work with a training partner and punching pads. Every time your training partner lifts a punching pad, you adjust your distance and do a front hand punch with a quick front step.
