Wushu - Side Kick Video

This video shows how to do a wushu (taolu) sidekick. In Chinese (Mandarin) this kick is called "Ce Shuai Tui". Practice both sides, left and right side kick. Click here for a more detailed instruction. Also check out the animated wushu section or go back to wushu videos main.

Execution

  • Cross-step forward with the right leg and open both arms in a circular motion (elbows fully extended). Then cross your hands in front of the chest. Lift your knee and thrust out your left foot like shown in the video. Both knees should be fully extended and and the arms spread to the sides. Hold this position for at least half a second. Kick hip-height or higher.

Advice

  • Practice both sides, left and right wushu side kick.
  • If you are into traditional wushu, you can try to hold the side kick longer and focus a little more on isometric strength.
