Wushu Slapkick Video
This video shows how to do a wushu slapkick. In Chinese (Mandarin) the slapkick is called "Dan Pai Jiao". The slapkick should be the last basic kick in your
wushu warm-up routine. Also check out the animated wushu section or go back to wushu videos main.
Execution
- When you do a slapkick, it's important that you keep both knees straight, look straight forward and also keep the heel of the standing leg on the floor.
- Make sure you don't round your back as you kick.
- The time between hand slap and foot slap should be as short as possible.
- Pull the kicking leg back down to the floor faster than you kicked up.
- Extend both arms like shown in the video.
- Check out the animated instruction for more information on the wushu slapkick.
Advice
- Stretch your hips and your hamstrings before you practice any wushu kicks.
- Speed is very important. The up-motion has to be very fast, but the down-motion has to be even faster.
