Wushu Deng Tui - Heel Palm Kick - Video

This video shows how to do the heel palm kick in wushu. Practice the heel palm kick after the stretchkicks and before the sweeps. In Chinese (Mandarin) this wushu kick is called "Deng Tui". Also check out the animated wushu section or go back to wushu videos main.

Execution

  • The heel-palm-kick is a thrusted wushu kick where you kick with the heel.
  • Extend both knees and keep the heel of the standing leg on the floor.
  • Look straight forward and keep your trunk and your standing leg aligned vertically.
  • Don't lean back, don't round your back.
  • Kick 90 degrees and flex the ankle of the kicking leg.

Advice

  • For isometric strength, try to hold the dengtui for a few seconds.
  • Do 8 kicks in a row.
  • Be careful with this kick if you have knee problems.
