Wushu Front Sweep with Hands

This video shows how to do a wushu front sweep with hands. If you put your hands down in a wushu competition, points are deducted. Click here for more info on how a front sweep without hands is done. In Chinese (Mandarin) this wushu leg technique is called "Qian Sao". Also check out the animated wushu section or go back to wushu videos main.

Execution

  • Start with a wushu smash punch (see video).
  • Then step back to a ding bu, circle and slap your hands and look back.
  • And then do the sweep like shown in the video. This is the beginners variation of the wushu front sweep, so you can use your hands. But try to keep your upper body as straight and upright as possible.
  • For a more detailed instruction check the animated tutorial.

Advice

  • Stretch your wushu flat stance.
  • There is only one side of the front sweep. (right leg = sweeping leg)
  • Once you can do the front sweep with hands, try it without hands.
  • Do the Chuan Zhang before you practice your wushu sweeps.
