Wushu Bow Stance Video

This video shows how to do a wushu bow stance. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Gong Bu". Learn the 5 basic wushu stances and then the 5 stances form (Wu Bu Quan). Also check out the animated wushu section or go back to wushu videos main.

Execution

  • Extend the back leg and keep both heels on the floor.
  • The thigh of the front leg should be parallel to the floor and the shin of the front leg should be vertical.
  • In modern wushu, the feet are in one line and the stance very low.
  • Look straight forward and keep your upper body straight and vertical (don't crouch down).
  • The front foot points straight forward and the back foot is turned away 45 degrees.

Advice

  • Stretch your hips and your calf muscles.
  • Strengthen your legs - Try to hold the bow stance for 1 to 5 minutes.
  • Lear the 5 stances form.
  • Beginners should practice the wushu bow stance every day.
