Wushu Horse Stance - Video Instruction
This video shows how to do a wushu horse stance. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Ma Bu". The horse stance is one of the 5 basic wushu stances. Once you know the 5 basic stances you should lear the 5 stances form. Also check out the animated wushu section or go back to wushu videos main.
Execution
- Your feet should be parallel and about 2 shoulder widths apart.
- Your knees should be bent around 90 degrees.
- Keep your upper body straight and look straight forward.
- Hold your horse stance 20 seconds or more.
- Keep your fists on your hips and your arms parallel.

Advice
- If you are into traditional wushu, you may try to hold your horse stance for 1 to 10 minutes. (isometric strength training)
- If you are having knee problems and want to hold your horse stance for a long time, don't hold your horse stance too static => change your height slightly every 30 seconds.
