Wushu Rest Stance - Video Instruction

This video shows how to do a wushu rest stance. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Xie Bu". The rest stance is one of the 5 basic wushu stances. Once you know the 5 basic stances you should learn the 5 stances form. Also check out the animated wushu section or go back to wushu videos main.

Execution

  • The wushu rest stance is a very low stance, but in modern wushu it is not necessary to let your knee touch the floor.
  • Keep your upper body as upright and straight as possible.
  • Stretch your gluteus.
  • You don't have to copy the arm movement from this video. If you just want to practice the stance, you can also keep your fists on your hips.
