Wushu Broadsword Wheel - Gua Dao Video

This video shows how to do a wushu broadsword wheel. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Gua Dao". The broadsword wheel is basic wushu broadsword "Dao Shu" techniques and very easy to learn. Execution

  • Hold your wushu broadsword in your right hand and then lift it over your head.
  • Lift your left knee and put your left palm under your right shoulder.
  • Look straight forward.
  • Then circle your broadsword down and up.
  • At the same time extend your left arm behind you and step forward.
  • The right arm always stays pretty straight and the tip of the sword always goes first.
  • Then circle your wushu broadsword on the right side of your body and repeat the whole thing.

Advice

  • The down-motion is always a little faster than the up-motion.
  • Keep your wushu sword close to your body and make sure left and right circles are parallel to each-other.
