This video shows how to do a the wushu broadsword cloud technique and the broadsword stab. In Chinese (Mandarin) the broadsword cloud is called "Yun Dao" and the straight stab with the wushu broadsword is called "Ci Dao". These 2 techniques are one of the first wushu broadsword skills you should learn. To learn more about this weapon, check out the animated broadsword section. Also check out the basic wushu videos or click here for more wushu broadsword videos.

Execution

  • "Yun Dao" is a wushu broadsword technique where you turn 180 degrees. It starts with the arm fully extended and the sword pointing straight forward and ends with the handle at the hip and the sword parallel to the ground. Relax your wrist and circle your broadsword close to your head.
  • "Ci Dao" is just the extension from the hip until the arm is straight. Make sure that at the end, the tip of the sword is not higher than the handle. Keep your upper body straight and look straight forward. Extend your shoulder a little and exhale as you stab.

Advice

  • Yun Dao and Ci Dao are always practiced together -> See video.
  • Practice the wushu broadsword cloud technique slowly before you speed up. You don't wanna cut your face.
  • When you extend your arm at the end of the broadsword stab, be careful with your elbow. Avoid this exercises if you have elbow problems.
