Wushu Back Sweep in Class

This video shows a wushu class practicing the back sweep. The back sweep (hou sao) should be practiced after the wushu front sweep. Also check out the animated wushu section or go back to wushu videos main.

Execution

  • Do 2 or 3 back sweeps per carpet length.
  • Sweep as low and fast as possible.
  • Stretch your wushu flat stance.
  • Keep your upper body straight.
  • Your upper body turns first and your leg follows.
  • For a more detailed instruction check the animated tutorial.

Advice

  • Practice the back sweep in every wushu training session.
  • A lot of people use the chuan zhang to warm up for the wushu sweeps.
  • Work on your front sweep before you practice the back sweep.
