Wushu Headspring Video
This video shows how to do a wushu headspring. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Tou Ding Fa". There are two variations of this wushu technique: The headspring with hands and the headspring without hands. The headspring is technically similar to the
wushu kipup and the headstand. To learn more about the crash style, check out the animated wushu crash style section. Also check out the basic wushu videos or click here for more wushu crash style videos.
Execution
- Put your hands and your head on the floor like if you were going to do a headstand.
- Then lift your hips and extend your legs.
- When your legs reach vertical level, whip them over like if you were doing a wushu kip-up. The first half of the movement is slower than the second half.
- At the beginning it's ok if you throw your hands straight forward, but later you should try to keep your arms aligned with your upper body.
Advice
- Keep your abs slightly contracted.
- Make sure your knees are extended in the middle of the movement.
- If you want to learn the wushu headspring without hands, just remove pressure from your hands until you can do it without hands. Take your time - Don't break your neck :)
