Wushu Butterfly Kick Combo - Video

This video shows how to do a wushu butterfly kick combo with a butterfly twist at the end. In Chinese (Mandarin) the butterfly kick is called "Xuan Zi" and the wushu butterfly twist is called "Xuan Zi Zhuan Ti". Also check out the animated wushu section or go back to wushu videos main.

Execution

  • Start with the wushu butterfly runup and then do a b-kick.
  • Land on the right leg and then on the left leg. Swing your upper body down and forward again, like if you were doing your first butterfly kick. Don't swing your upper body too fast. At the beginning it's actually better if you swing your upper body slowly.
  • Do at least 2 wushu butterfly kicks, and if you can already to the b-twist, try to add a b-twist at the end.
  • For a more detailed instruction check out the animated wushu b-kick instruction and the animated b-twist instruction.

Advice

  • Try to do as many butterfly kicks as possible.
  • Wushu butterfly combos are circular combinations. When you look at it from the top, you are jumping in a ~5 meter circle. Don't do your b-kicks in a straight line.
  • Add a butterfly twist at the end, and if you want to make this even more difficult, add a wushu whirlwind kick after the last butterfly twist (without additional steps).
