Wushu Spear Flip 360 & Spear Smash
This video shows how to do a wushu spear flip with a 360 jump followed by a spear smash. These two techniques are usually done together. In Chinese (Mandarin) the wushu spear flip is called "Pao Qiang" and the spear smash is called "Shuai Qiang". The spear is only flipped 180 degrees. The
wushu staff on the other hand is flipped 360 degrees. To learn more about the wushu spear (qiang shu), check out the animated spear section. Also check out the basic wushu videos or click here for more wushu spear instructions.
Execution
- Flip your wushu spear like shown in the video and step forward with your right leg.
- Then step forward with your left leg and jump off in a circular motion like if you were doing a wushu whirlwind kick from the left leg. Twist 360 degrees and arch back a little. Make sure you swing your qiang (spear) vertically and land on your right leg first.
- Then go down into a wushu flat stance and smash your spear on the floor.

Advice
- Don't look down to the floor when you go into the wushu flat stance. Look straight forward.
- Do only 2 steps after the spear flip.
