Wushu Staff Slash - Video

This video shows how to do a wushu staff slash. The staff slash is one of the most basic wushu staff techniques and should be learned in your very first wushu training session. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Pi Gun". "Pi" is the slash and "Gun" is the wushu staff. Click here, for more staff videos.

Execution

• Holds the bottom of your wushu staff with your right hand, and the lower third with your left hand.
• Strike out over your left shoulder and then swing your staff down in front of your chest.
• The right hand stops at the right hip and left hand catches the stick (extended).
  You basically let your staff bounce into your left hand.
• Exhale at the same time and look straight forward.

Advice

• Never strike out over your right shoulder, only over your left shoulder.
• Don't round your back.
• Exhale as you slash your staff.
