Wushu Straightsword - Fife Flower Video
This video shows how to do the fife flower movement with a wushu straightsword. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Wu Hua Jian". The wuhuajian is one of the most basic
wushu straightsword movements. Click here, for more wushu straightsword videos.
Execution
- Stand with your feet about 2 shoulder widths apart and swing your wushu jian (straightsword) to the right side and down behind the back.
- Circle your sword once behind your back and then swing it back in front of your chest. When you change direction, the wrist follows the elbow and the shoulder. Make sure you relax your wrist.
- Then circle your sword to the left again (see video).
Advice
- The fife flower straightsword movement should be smoother than the fife flower movement with the wushu dao (broadsword).
- Don't let your wushu straightsword touch the left side of your trunk.
- Never fully extend your elbow.
- Relax your wrist.
