Wushu Straightsword Flick - Video

This video shows how to do the wushu straightsword flick. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Pi Jian". "Pi" is the Flick and "Jian" is the double-edged wushu sword. Click here for more straightsword videos.

Execution

  • Hold your wushu straightsword over-head and put your left hand to the right shoulder.
  • Then step forward and swing your sword down in a circular motion. The arm goes first and the wrist/sword follows.
  • Flick your wushu sword at the end of the movement (turning the wrist) and exhale at the same time. In order to flick the straightsword fast, you have to keep your forearms relaxed.

Advice

  • Relax your elbow and your wrist.
  • Don't fully extend your arm.
