This video shows how to do an up-slice movement with a wushu straightsword. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Liao Jian". Click here for more video instructions for the wushu straightsword.

Execution

  • Start with your legs closed and your wushu sword over-hear (pointing to the left). Look to the left and put your left hand close to your right shoulder. (see video)
  • Then step forward with your right leg and swing your sword down with the arm fully extended. The wrist goes first, the sword follows.
  • After the first circle you bend your elbows for a short moment and initiate the second circle.

Advice

  • Relax your wrist.
  • The circles have the be very big and the slices fast.
In the middle, before you bend your elbow, you can slow down a little.
  • Don't bend your elbow before and after that.
  • Align the left right arm with your right arm. (see video)
