Wushu Whip - Left-Right Swing
This video shows how to do a left-right swing with a wushu whip chain. This is one of the most basic techniques and you should learn it in your very first workout. Simply swing your
wushu whip from the left to the right side alternately. In Chinese Mandarin, this technique is called "Zuo You Da Hua Zi". For more wushu whip chain videos, click here.
Execution
- Stand with your left leg forward, hold your wushu whip in your right hand and start from the empty circle swing. Look straight forward and swing your whip in a vertical layer, very close to your body.
- Swing your whip chain to the left and then back to the right again. Keep your whip close to your body and make sure your right elbow always points slightly down. Don't lift your elbow sideways.
- Left arm: Either extend your left arm with the palm facing down, or let your left hand rest on your hip (more traditiona variation).
Advice
- The only technique you should learn before this, is the empty circle swing.
- Speed up.
- Don't move your right arm too much.
