Wushu Whip - Leg Circle Draw

This video shows how to do a leg circle draw with a wushu whip chain. This technique is a bit more difficult than the leg twine. Learn the basic leg twine before you try this and if you are afraid of hitting yourself with your metal wushu whip, try it with a tennis ball on a cord first. Execution

  • Stand with your left leg forward and swing your wushu whip forward up (not forward down as usual). The beginning of the leg circle draw is a bit like a reverse leg twine.
  • Lift your right leg and swing your wushu whip under your thigh.
  • Let the chain go around your leg once and turn to the left shortly before the top points down to the floor again.
  • Turn further than in a normal leg twine and use the turn to change direction.
  • Put your right foot back on the floor and lift your left leg so that the chain can pass.
  • The catch shown at the end of this video is not part of the technique.

Advice

  • Use a tennis ball on a cord if you are afraid of hitting yourself.
  • Make sure you swing your wushu whip forward up at the beginning.
  • Only practice one side of the leg circle draw.
