One-Armed Wushu Whip Chain Hops

This video shows how to do one-armed wushu whip chain hops. The one-armed wushu whip chain hop is basically an easier version of the bottom hop. The bottom hop is more difficult because only your bottom is allowed to touch the ground and you can't use your hands or your feet to push yourself off the ground. Execution

  • Lie down sideways (like in the landing position of the flying wushu cross-leg kick) and swing your wushu whip parallel to the ground (to the left). The right leg is pretty much extended and the left legs is bent and under the right leg (see video).
  • After a few circles, swing your whip down to the floor and lift your legs over the chain. You can push yourself off with your left hand and the balls of your feet.
  • Then lift your left hand so that you whip can pass.
  • The first time you try this, it's ok if you swing your wushu whip back over-head after the first circle.
  • Once you are comfortable with this movement, try to do 10 to 20 circle in a row. (without swinging the chain over head in-between)
