Flip Throw - Wushu Whip Chain
This video shows how to do a flip throw with a wushu whip chain. In Chinese (Mandarin) this is called "Pao Bian" (lit: Throw Whip). While your
wushu whip is in the air, you could do a circle kick or a wushu back sweep. Click here to find more wushu whip chain videos.
Execution
- Swing your wushu whip forward down on the right side of your body. Make sure you circle your whip chain in a vertical layer and very close to your body.
- Release the handle when the chain goes up behind your back.
- Let it rotate 360 degrees.
- And then catch the handle of your wushu whip.
Advice
- Throwing your whip forward a little is better than throwing it back.
- Once you are comfortable with the pao bian technique, lift you knee or do a straight wushu kick. Later you can try a circle kick or even do a wushu back sweep while your weapon rotates in the air. A very advanced combination would be to catch the handle in the middle of a flying wushu frontkick.
