Description
- Swing your wushu whip on the right side of your body. Make sure you circle it in a vertical layer and don't move your hand too much. Keep your whip very close to your body.
- Step forward with your right leg, lift your right elbow and swing your whip under your arm. Flex your elbow. When the chain touches your arm, your arm should be parallel to the floor.
- Turn to the left and swing your whip down in front of your chest. Circle your whip a couple of times if you are not yet comfortable with this technique. Later on, you should only do one circle.
- Then swing your wushu bian over your elbow (from above), step back with your left leg and turn to the left. Your whip goes over your arm and as you turn around over your back. That's why this part of the movement is called "Bei Bian" = Back Whip.
- Now you are back to the same position where you started from.
Advice
- The left-right swings at the beginning are not part of this technique. Feng Jia Bin just does this while he explains this movement in Chinese.
- If you are afraid of hitting your legs or your body, try this wushu whip chain technique with a cord and a tennis ball. Get used to swinging your wushu whip in vertical layers and always keep it close to your body. When you swing your whip away from your body it will come back even closer and that's you hit yourself.
