Standing Calf Raise - Barbell on Back

The standing calf raise is a leg exercise where stand upright with a barbell on your back
and lift the weight with the stength of your calf muscles.
Lift your heels until your claves are fully contracted and lower them until your lower calf muscles are stretched slightly.

Technical description: Standing Calf Raise - Barbell on Back

  • Position a barbell on your back, like if you were doing squats.
  • If you are using big plates, you can lean against a wall and let the weight roll up and down when you lift your heels.
    Of course this exercise can also be done free.
  • Lift your heels as far as possible and exhale. ( until your calf muscles are fully contracted )
  • Let your heels sink back down until your claves are stretched slightly.
    Then lift your heels up again. ( but don't bounce or create momentum )

 

 

Trainer advice: Standing Calf Raise - Barbell on Back

  • Choose a weight with which you can do more than 20 calf raises.
  • Try to do 100 or 200 calf raises without weight.
