How to do Triceps Extensions

In this lesson you will learn how to do proper triceps extensions.
Triceps extensions are when you lie down an a bench and move down a weight to your head.
Remember that your upper arms have to stay vertical and your elbows should stay close together
when you do triceps extensions.

Technical description: Triceps Extensions

  • Lie down on a bench and and hold a bar straight over your shoulders.
    All fingers ( including the thumbs ) grab the weight from the bottomside of the bar.
    When you move down the bar, don't open your elbows. ( elbows always stay close together )
  • Let the weight sink down towards your forehead or behind the head and inhale.
    Down: Approximately 3 seconds.
    Keep your upper arms as vertical as possible.
  • Lift the weight back up and exhale.
    Up: Approximately 2 seconds.

 

 

Trainer advice: Triceps Extensions

  • Keep your elbows close together and don't create momentum.
