Amazing Fight in Chiang Mai – Nic Dp

This was the most amazing fight I’ve seen up close so far. Nic Dp (Canada) from Muay Thai Santai Gym fought in Chiang Mai and the fight was ended with an elbow uppercut in the 3rd round. His opponent was very strong. Only a few foreigners who didn’t know his oppenent dared to bet for Nic. The corner from where I was taping them was shaking with every strike and you could leterally feel the bones crack. I twas very emotional and the crowd was cheering. For the outcome, watch the video below.

Muay Thai Fights in Lamphun

Geordie from Australia, Dan from Canada and Trainer Phon fighting for Muay Thai Santai in Lamphun Thailand. From now on I will make the logos a bit smaller on fight videos and demonstrations. These videos is available in 1080p. So you can watch it full screen and turn up the resolution if your internet is fast enough.

Muay Lao and Judo Update from Laos

Got JUDO :) I wasn’t able to tape any Muay Lao in Laos, because one gym closed because of financial problems and the guys from the other gym went to Vietnam for a month. Either way they would not have known any traditional Muay Lao, so it would have been the same as Muay Thai. Maybe next time… But the good news is that there was this HUGE, new Japanese training hall in the center of the Vientiane. You could see it was nop notch just from walking by. So I went in to check out what they did there. And the answer was “judo and other japanese martial arts of course”. Judo masters from japan come there to teach and their competing judokas are very good. So I asked them if they were intersted in taping a few video instruction for flashmavi. After all I didn’t have any judo videos. Result: There will soon be 60 really cool judo video instructions on flashmavi. Thanx LAO Judo Federation!

Getting Rid of the Blue Thing

We are finally getting rid of the blue circle, the old control field on the animated instructions. There has been some confusion with with pause button and it just didn’t look simple enough. Plus, the pause button didn’t even work on some of the older instructions. Anyway, Veronica is making this change while I am finishing a freelance job and then we will get back to the muay thai and muay boran videos.

So from now on, the animated instructions will look like this:

Thailand, Muay Thai & Pad Thai

We spent almost 3 month in Thailand now and not only Muay Thai is great over here. We have probably had a hundred pad thais in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket, but if you asked me where you can get the best pad thai in Thailand, my answer would be >> THIS GUY HERE !!! << in Karon Beach next to the 2Gether Hotel right in front of the 7/11. And here is how he does it :)

New Muay Thai Outfit

As you know I am currently in Thailand where I will take videos for the new Muay Thai Section. But first, the Muay Thai Mavi had to get a new look.
A bit more about the videos; It looks like I will be working with http://www.muay-thai-santai.com, a bit outside of Chiang Mai. Another school I was thinking about working with was Chay Yai Muay Thai. But after talking to both of them, I think Muay Thai Santai should be a better fit for Flash Mavi. I will also bring more about the school later. The first videos should be online early next week. Of course I will also train with them. But NOW, I have to celebrate SONG KRAN Festival here in Chiang Mai. BTW, if you ever get to go to Thailand in Spring. Song Kran Festival (The Thai New Year) is 3 to 5 days of water party… (will add a video on youtube later tonight)

Muay Thai Project – Thailand 2011

Hi everybody.

Next week we are leaving for Thailand, where we will finally get some good Muay Thai videos. We are going to stay one month in Bangkok and then 2 month at muay thai schools in Chiang Mai and Phuket. We don’t know yet how easy or hard it will be to get the videos we want, but we will try our best.

About the art:
Muay Thai is also known as the “Art of Eight Limbs”, because it makes use of fists, feet, elbows and knees (two fists, two knees, etc.). This is one of the most powerful combat sports and with this project we are taking FM – video to the next level. Next we are going to by a new HD camera and hopefully the new videos will rock.

If you want to send me your ideas for the new videos, contact me through martinvidic.com

And also feel free to support the Muay Thai Project with a donation.
