Outside Circle Kick - Wushu
The outside snapkick of
wushu is one of the first basic wushu kick. The chinese expression
is: "wai
bai". From an upright position with the arms spreaded apart, one
leg is kicked outside-up, claps into the opposite hand and goes down
even faster then it came up. The entire body stays motionless, onle the
kicking leg moves. (One arm moves for the clap) This technique should
be practiced in every wushu session from your very first training.
Technical description: Outside Circle Kick - Wushu
- How to start off. (Straight, inside and outside snapkick have the same beginning)
Stand upright with your legs closed and your hands on your sides.
- Step forward with your left leg and lift your straightened arms while looking to your right.
You kinda lift your wrists and follow with your hands (See video)
- Follow with your right foot so that your legs are closed again, look straight ahead again and twist up your palms.
Now your arms should be horizontal and your palms should be behind your chest (side view).
Both palms point outward. That´s how 3 of the 5 basic kicks begin.
- Step forward with your left leg and and swing your right leg inside-up infront of your face. When you have your foot in front of you, you clap on your left palm and then on your righ palm. (Baboom) The fingertips have to point to yout right when you clap with the right leg.
- Open your arms again and bring your hands back to its place. At the same time you pull your kicking leg down to the floor, faster then is moved up.
- Make sure u never bend your back. It`s optical very important to move the leg faster down then up. To achieve this, keep your hip straight.
- Tap down with the toe of your kicking leg, step forward on the heel and kick with the other leg. (everything the other way around)
Trainer advice: Outside Circle Kick - Wushu
- Warm up and stretch enough before you begin.
- Sidesplits an Flatstance stretches are very important for this basic kick.
- Train your hip strength.
- Do special stretches for the wushu kicks. You should be able to touch your forehead with the toe of your straightened leg.
