Southern Style - Wushu

Nanquan is a modern Style created in 1960 in the south of china.
Wushu almost became olymic for Beijing 2008, but failed in the last minute.
The next chance will be in 2016.
The plan was Longfist, Staff, Bradsword and Southern Fist for men.
Longfist, Spear, Straightsword and Taiji for women.
In 2003 the international wushu federation set new rules for nanquan.
More acrobatic jumps were added.

Technical description: Southern Style - Wushu

  • Southern Fist techniques are very rude and kinda stiff.
  • A typical acrobatic move for Southern Fist is the Whirlwind Kick with crash landing. (on the side)
  • There are 4 animal movements in nanquan. Each of them has its own scream.
So you should scream app 4 times in a Southern Fist Form... lol

Trainer advice: Southern Style - Wushu

  • Southern Fist is a very interesting Style and almost every good chinese wushu athlete knows some nanquan basics.
    It's kinda general knowledge.
