The Toprock - Breakdance

The toprock is the most basic breakdance step (similar to the Capoeira ginga). Start with the toprock and then move into more difficult breakdance moves. The toprock is also used to warm up and create space on the dance floor.

Description: Breakdance – Toprock

  • Relax your arms and let them move freely.
  • Start with a long, deep step with your right leg to the left.
  • Hop back to the center with your left leg, then make a small step with your right.
  • Take a long step with your left leg (now to your right side).
  • Return to the center and take 2 small steps before starting the sequence over again.

Trainer Advice: Breakdance – Toprock

At the beginning, count your steps like this:

  • Left: step, step, long
  • Right: step, step, long
