Fat and Water Soluble Vitamins

Vitamins are organic molecules required by all living organisms and are essential for a healthy immune system. They play key roles in antioxidant defense, enzyme production, and many other biological functions. Vitamins are crucial for normal growth and development, and each vitamin has a different function in the body. Some support skin and eye health, while others act as antioxidants.

Eating enough protein and carbohydrates but neglecting vitamins is like driving a car with plenty of fuel but without oil or coolant—it just won’t work properly.

Vitamins can be classified as water-soluble or fat-soluble:

  • Fat-soluble vitamins: A, D, E, and K — these are absorbed along with fats. A key advantage of fat-soluble vitamins is that they can be stored in the body for long periods (several weeks). However, excessive intake may lead to toxic accumulation.
  • Water-soluble vitamins: All other vitamins — these dissolve in water and cannot be stored in the body for long. Deficiencies can develop quickly if they are not consumed regularly.

Advice: Vitamins

Try to avoid relying on vitamin tablets or supplements unless medically necessary. Whole foods are always better sources of nutrients. Aim to eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables every day.

Vitamins A, C, and E, along with glutathione, glutamine, and selenium, are important antioxidants that help prevent free radical damage, which can lead to cancer. Antioxidants protect your cells by neutralizing harmful oxidizing agents.
