Sanda roundhouse kicks (Bian Tui) and Muay Thai roundhouse kicks are very similar. The main difference is that in Muay Thai, you strike with the shin, while in Sanda, you hit with the ankle (or slightly above). In Muay Thai, the roundhouse kick is one of the most popular and powerful techniques, and fighters spend a lot of time conditioning their shins. Most Muay Thai fights start with roundhouse kicks, whereas Sanda fights usually begin with side kicks.

Trainer Advice: Roundhouse Kick – Sanda
- A Bian Tui to the trunk is not as powerful as a low Bian Tui. Kicking higher also makes it easier for your opponent to catch your leg.
- The back leg delivers more power, but the front leg is faster.
