The side kick is a technique found in various martial arts styles, such as Karate, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, and Sanda. In Mandarin Chinese, this kick is called “Ce Shuai Tui” or simply “Ce Shuai.” You essentially stand on one leg, turn to the side, and thrust the other leg out sideways. Description: Sanda Side Kick
- Stand on one leg and lift the knee of the other leg.
- Extend the kicking leg so that your foot is horizontal, striking your opponent with the heel.
- Slightly lean back while twisting the toes of your standing foot away from your opponent.
- After the kick, return to the position with your knee lifted, then place the kicking foot back on the floor. This prevents your opponent from grabbing your leg.
Trainer Advice: Sanda Side Kick
- Hold onto something if needed, lift the knee, execute the kick, and return to the knee-lift position. Repeat this 10 times, counting 1, 2, 3.
- Always look forward and fully extend the hip (BOW FORM). The heel should strike the opponent, and the toes should point slightly downward.
- A small hop can make the kick much stronger.
