Rope Skipping

In this section, you will find information about rope skipping and instructions for a few skipping techniques. Many people think rope skipping is only for kids, but in fact, it’s a great exercise for everyone. You can use it to improve coordination, endurance, reactive strength, burn fat, and more. The best part is, you can skip almost anywhere— all you need is a rope and about 2 square meters of space.

Rope skipping is also an excellent warm-up, and some people simply jump for fun. By the way, there are also rope skipping clubs and competitions.

Instructions

  • Single Jump
  • Half Jump
  • Double Jump
  • One-Legged Single Jump
  • Speed Step
  • Triple Jump
  • Choosing the Right Rope Length
  • Rope Skipping & the Right Shoes

Advice

  • Always jump wearing shoes.
  • Keep your hands close to your body.
  • Heavy ropes are better than light ones. Some techniques (for example, double or triple jumps) are much harder with a light rope. Leather ropes, wire ropes with a plastic cover, or pure plastic ropes are recommended.
  • I usually work out every morning (5–10 km run + stretching), but when it rains, I definitely prefer rope skipping.
